About The I-290
Blue Line Coalition

The I-290 Blue Line Coalition is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit corporation founded in 2022 to advocate for the full funding and completion of the I-290 Blue Line Reconstruction Project, the 13.5 mile multimodal transportation corridor spanning from Racine Ave. in Chicago to Wolf Rd. in the Village of Hillside.

What We Do

  • Advocates for full funding and timely completion of the 13.5-mile I-290 Blue Line Reconstruction Project from downtown Chicago to Mannheim Road.
  • Educates public officials and the broader community on the project’s economic, safety, mobility, and quality-of-life benefits.
  • Monitors funding opportunities to ensure continued progress and accountability for the project.
  • Subscribes to and supports policies and legislation that support innovative funding strategies to accelerate delivery of the corridor improvements.
  • Recognizes and supports public officials, agencies, and partners who support efforts to advance the I-290 Blue Line Reconstruction Project.

Why We Do This

This 13.5 mile multimodal transportation corridor from downtown Chicago west to Wolf Rd. has been deprived of infrastructure investment for decades. Reconstruction of this corridor will positively impact job growth, development of new housing and commercial facilities, and the overall quality of life for corridor residents. New investment in this regional infrastructure will benefit users by providing lasting value, improved efficiency, and safety.
